Mediterranean agriculture is practiced in the countries on both sides of the Mediterranean Sea. The main areas where this practice is followed are North Africa from Tunisia to Atlantic coast, southern California, central Chile, south western parts of South Africa and south and south-western parts of South Australia. The main speciality of this region practicing this method is viticulture. This method is used for producing citrus fruits like grapes, olives etc. It is known for producing best quality wines and figs and also fruits and vegetables that are grown during the winter season.
Dairy farming is the most advance, efficient and capital intensive type of farming in the world. It uses a combination of resources along with the animals like sheds, storage facilities for the fodder and also mulching machines. This method is widely used in the North Western parts of Europe, Canada, New Zealand and South Eastern Australia. The main emphasis under this type of farming is placed on cattle breeding, health care and veterinary services. Machines are used for milking cows using dairy farming techniques and the main feature of this method is that there is no season off and requires huge amount of labour. This method requires better transportation, refrigeration and pasteurization facilities to be successful.
