Discipline and Adventure
On the 3rd of March, 2019, fifty students from an unnamed institute went on an adventure trip to Jog Falls in Karnataka. The current was high and it was a dangerous time to play in the water at the waterfall and all students were ordered not to go too close to the water. Sudden flash floods were reported near the banks of the stream as well. The visit to the Falls, however, turned disastrous as ten students disobeyed orders and went to the banks of the stream. They decided to try swimming and were washed away with the current.
When going on such trips, everyone must keep themselves alert and know about the consequences of taking such dangerous action. Clear instructions must be given to one and all before entering such sites. A chaperone must always be present to look over the children and ensure that everyone stays close.
However, all precautions taken by authorities will only be effective if the students or children cooperate. They need to learn to obey rules and not let curiosity get the best of them. Their lives are in their own hands and going for such dangerous activities for the adrenaline rush can lead to death, as it was in this case.
Everyone must look out for one another, but most of all, one must look after themselves.
