Is China a democratic country or not? Give two arguments in favour of your answer.
China is a communist country where elections are held after every five years but still it cannot be called a democratic country. Explain the reason.
China is not a democratic country in the true spirit of democracy because of i. For contesting election to the Chinese Parliament, the candidates need the approval of the Chinese Community Party. Only the members of the Communist Party and its eight allies are allowed to contest the election.
ii. There is one party rule, i.e. the Communist Party of China, which is not the indication of a true democracy. Therefore, China cannot be said to be a true democracy.
