Social movement could be defined as the long and continuous social struggle or action by the people to achieve specific or particular goals.
In the 20th century, Social movements were based on working-class movements, peasant movements or anti-colonial movements. Anti-colonial movements led people to get united to fight for the National liberation whereas class-based movements encouraged people to fight for their rights.
The most important factor is that both new and old social movement was working together to raise awareness related to the hazards of globalisation through their new alliances with the World Social Forum.
