Destroy will be take place when two particles are hit with each other which are having equal but opposite magnitudes. Positron is same as electron but have a positive charge. So it is an antiparticle to the electron. So they collide easily. This process is called annihilation. In destroy of these particles some energy will be release in the form of gamma ray photons. If we balance the energy level, we can conserve the released energy. Here in annihilation, two gamma ray photons will release. By balancing (neutralizing) the charges we can conserve released energy.
