The general formula for effective capacitance of a series combination of n capacitors is given by

__The__ equivalent capacitance of two capacitors connected in parallel are given by

Where

C_{1} is the capacitance of the capacitor C_{1}

C_{2} is the capacitance of the capacitor C_{2}

Here C_{1}=C_{2}=C

Putting the values in the above formula, we get

**∴** **C _{eq}=C+C=2C**

Since, potential difference across capacitors in parallel are equal

Therefore voltage across the system is equal to the voltage across a single capacitor.
