Identify the comp
Compound B produces an optically active compound after hydrogenation.
Any compound is said to be optically inactive when:
1. It can show enantiomerism-It forms non-super imposable mirror images of each other.
2. It has a chiral carbon-A chiral carbon is one which is bonded to four different molecules.
Hydrogenation of A:
The product formed by the hydrogenation of compound A does not have a chiral carbon. Therefore, it is not optically active.
Hydrogenation of B:
The product formed by the hydrogenation of compound B has a chiral carbon. Therefore, it is optically active.
