(i) On mixing liquid X and liquid Y, volume of the resulting solution decreases. This means that the interaction between X-Y is more than that between X-X and Y-Y. This leads to negative deviation from Raoult’s law. The escaping tendency of molecules will get reduce and the observed vapour pressure will be less than that calculated using Raoult’s Law. Due to this decrease in vapour pressure, the boiling point of the solution increases.
(ii) When we place the blood cell in water which is a hypotonic solution, the blood cell will swell. Due to osmosis, the water will penetrate inside the cell and the cell will swell and get disrupted.
