Green Revolution was introduced in 1968. It has increased the production and productivity of agriculture mostly in the West and North West areas of the country. It enhanced food security and created many job opportunities in agriculture. It has helped to reduce poverty in certain parts of India. However, as the effects are limited to some parts, the number of poor farmers is still significant.
