‘Rosie’ is first transgenic cow. ‘Rosie’ produced human protein-enriched milk (2.4 grams per litre).
In ‘Rosie’ human genes are transferred into mammary tissues of the cow.
Hence the milk contained the human alpha-lactalbumin and was nutritionally a more balanced product for human babies than natural cow-milk.
So, transgenic animals that produces useful biological products which are comparatively less expensive.
Transgenic animals are modified by adding or subtracting genes so that they become sensitive to toxic substances unlike non-transgenic animals. This makes them beneficial in one way or the other.
