The hand printing technology was introduced in Japan by the Buddhist missionaries from China around A.D 768-770.The oldest Japanese book is the Buddhist Diamond Sutra which was printed in 868 A.D. It has 6 pages of sheet text and woodcut illustrations. The book contained approximately 6000 words. Books became very popular in Japan as they were cheap and easily available.
