Answer :

The speaker in the poem is a young man. He is an optimistic and enthusiastic person regarding human life. A psalmist gives a pessimistic view of life which is contradicted by the speaker who is optimistic. The speaker believes that life gives everyone opportunities t do a lot of things whereas the psalmist’s view was that human life is meant to be in vain. Also the psalmist says that human body is made up of dust and finally returns back to dust. On this the optimist says that the soul is immortal only the human body is mortal. Therefore, the psalmist and optimist are opposite in their views. The speaker refuses to accept the fact that life is an empty dream. He argues that death is not the goal of life and the soul is immortal and never turns to dust. He ends on a positive note advising all to go beyond sorrow and happiness in life.
