The Model Code of Conduct was agreed, where EC ensure free and fair election. (There are a certain set of guidelines for the political parties and leaders, which they need to abide by or else it leads to disqualification of their candidature).

The rules are:

1. The contestants cannot bribe the voters or threaten them.

2. No use religion or caste as a tool to gain votes.

3. No to use government resources during campaigns.

4. Spend more than 25 lakhs in a constituency for Lok Sabha and 10 lakh in the assembly election.
