The various ways of adaption to conditions unfavourable for the survival the mentioned organisms –
a) Snails go into aestivation (dormant state during the day and dry hours of noon) to avoid summer-related problems like heat and dessication.
b) Seeds undergo dormancy. They reduce their metabolic activities. Whenever suitable conditions are available, the seeds germinate.
c) Bears undergo hibernation (deep sleep in winters) during the winters in order to save energy and survive harsh winters without eating much.
d) Zooplanktons go into the state of diapause (state of suspended development) in order to cope with unfavourable conditions.
e) In bacteria, fungi and lower plants, various kinds of thick-walled spores are formed which helps them to survive unfavourable conditions and whenever suitable environment is available, these spores germinate.
