(a) Sane Guruji organized meetings in East Khandesh to get the land revenue waived off. The crops in the region were destroyed due to heavy rains and peasants were in distress. Sane Guruji took marches to the Collector’s office in 1938 for the cause of the peasants.
(b) The formation of an all-India workers’ union became necessary in the wake of the First World War (1914-18) as it led to a considerable increase in the size of the working class population. All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC) was founded in 1920 out of the same urgency, with Lala Lajpath Rai as its first president.
