Answer :

On the same plant, the transfer of pollen grains from the anther of a flower to the stigma of another flower takes place is called geitonogamy.


Geitonogamous flowering plants in which the gametes come from the same parent plant, so it is autogamous. The pollen grains are being passed to a different flower which requires a pollinating agent,therefore it is an example of cross-pollination.


Thus, geitonogamous flowering plants are genetically autogamous but functionally cross-pollinated.
