Imperialism is showing disrespect for the freedom and sovereignty of other nations, and Colonialism means conquering the territories of nations through power and strength and establishing dominance over that region.
And India being the nation that was under the dominance of British empire for several years, that got independence after a long run struggle. Hence it became obvious that India’s foreign policy must oppose imperialism and colonialism.

The principles of Panchsheel formulate the pillars of Indian Foreign policy. The principles focus upon the expectation that no country would put pressure upon others and would not intervene in the matters like political, ideological or economical of other nation.
