Explain what happens when boric acid is heated.
Answer :
On heating orthoboric acid at 370 K or above, it changes to metaboric acid and On further heating, this yields boric oxide B2O3.
H3BO3→ HBO2(metaboric acid) → B2O3 (boric acid)
