Answer :
Unequal distribution of land means small farmers have a small size of the field (say less than 2 hectares) or no land to cultivate whereas large farmers have a large size of the field (say more than 2 hectares) for cultivation. The problems which arise due to unequal distribution of land are:
• It leads to high level of poverty in the region. Because the large farmers have a high portion of money whereas small farmers which work as farm labourers have a very small portion of money which increases the gap between their incomes and hence increases the poverty.
• Small farmers who have only 2 hectares of land for cultivation usually do not have surplus money, and they had to borrow money to buy seeds and various other inputs. They clear their debts after harvesting and selling the surplus crop (surplus crop is the crop which is left with farmers after keeping some of it for their need), but they do not get enough money to clear their total debts. Again for another year, they have to borrow money which ultimately leads to a debt trap.
• There is a monopoly of the large farmers, and they give meager wages to small farmers or farm labourers. This makes it difficult for them to live.
• There can be seasonal unemployment.
