Explain the griev
The sepoys were a combination of Muslim and Hindu soldiers serving for the East India Company. They were obliged to their works and did the work for the Britishers and conquered many battles. But the grievances of the Indian sepoys against the British rule before the revolt of 1857 came due to following reasons: -
I. They were treated very roughly and paid very less allowances.
II. Their deep faith in traditions made them face many social restrictions. The new rules violated their religious sentiments and beliefs.
III. They were severely punished for not obeying the British and this was the very disappointing situations which they were facing.
IV. Difficulty in getting leave: - They faced difficulty in getting leave from Britishers.
V. Policy of racial discrimination adopted by the British officers in terms of physical abuse, promotion, pension and terms of service.
