Answer :

Nepal was a monarchy ruled by a king until 2006 when it led a popular movement for democracy. In this movement the people fought to get their freedom from the hands of their monarch and restore democracy. Nepal was a third wave country when in 1990 they got democracy. Even under his democratic system, the king was the head of the state but the ones with all major decision making powers were the representatives that people had elected. This was the stage of conversion for Nepal from being an absolute monarchy where all powers rested with the monarch to being a constitutional monarchy where decisions were actually taken by the elected representatives. This phase was accepted by King Birendra at that time but in 2001 he was massacred with his entire family. The new King Gyanendra was not ready to accept the system of democracy and wanted control over the decision making authorities. He dismissed the Prime Minister and also dissolved the Parliament in 2005. These led to a series of revolt by the people demanding restoration of the parliament with powers to an all party Government and a new assembly for Nepal too. This led to the fall of the king as Girija Koirala was appointed the Prime Minister of Nepal.

Over time the European Union has evolved from an economic union to an increasingly political one. This shift started with the active participation of EU as a nation state. They made attempts to create a constitution separately for the EU but there attempts failed. But at the same time, EU established its own flag, anthem, currency and the date on which it was founded. The EU also follows a form of common policy with other countries on trade and security grounds. The erstwhile Soviet bloc became new members for the EU and received great support and cooperation. Some members in the European Union are still not willing to give the same level of powers to the EU as their government holds. Some decisions are also being taken regarding the constitution of new countries in the Union.
