Explain how living organisms directly or indirectly depend on plants?
All organisms on earth are inter-dependent on each other for various requirements. All humans and animals depend on plants, either directly or indirectly for obtaining nutrients. Plants being the primary producers trap solar energy and prepare their food through photosynthesis (autotrophs). Plants are the first living organisms to harness sun’s energy. Herbivores like deer and cow directly take this prepared food (glucose). Thus herbivorous organisms directly depend on plants. Carnivorous and omnivorous animals obtain their food by hunting these herbivores. Thus carnivores depend indirectly on plants. Therefore, plants serve as a regular source of food for all living beings.
