There is an equal contribution of genes of male and female parents in the progeny because both male and female parents contribute DNA material in equal amount to the progeny. The progeny bears two sets of genes which have been inherited from male and female parent both. The male gamete and female gamete carry one gene for each characteristic and results in formation of gene pair. A Zygote is formed which has a full set of genes by the fusion of male gamete and female gamete.
So, the new organism which is formed after developing from the zygote, possess equal characteristics of both male and female.
