Q. 35.0( 4 Votes )

Two poles 18m and. 13 m high stand upright in a playground. If their feet are 12 m apart find the distance between their top?

Answer :

From the given fig;

AD = CB = 13m

DE = 5m.

Also, AB = CD = 12m

Using Pythagoras theorem;

EC2 = ED2 + CD2

EC2 = 52 + 122

EC2 = 25 + 144

EC2 = 169

EC2 = 132

EC = 13 m

So, the distance between the top of the poles is 13 m.
