By laws of exponent,
xm ÷ xn = xm-n
In this question,
m = 7
n = 12
∴xm ÷ xn = xm-n
⇒ x7 ÷ x12 = x7-12

Hence, for a non-zero integer x, x7 ÷ x12 is equal to x-5.
