# If 53x–1 ÷ 25 = 125, find the value of x.

Given that, 53x–1 ÷ 25 = 125

25 = 5 × 5 = 52 and 25 = 5 × 5 × 5 = 53

53x–1 ÷ 52 = 53

Using the law of exponent,

53x-1-2 = 53

53x-3 = 53

Comparing both sides,

3x-3 = 3

3x = 6

x = 2

the value of x is 2
