The length of AB becomes 25 – x.


Applying Pythagoras theorem in ΔABC,


(AC’)2 = AB2 + (BC’)2


x2 = (25 – x)2 + 152


x2 = 625 + x2 – 50x + 225


50x = 850


x = 17 m


The length of the upper part of the pole is 17 meters.
