a^{2}x^{2} + b^{2}y^{2} + 2axby + b^{2}x^{2} + a^{2}y^{2} – 2axby

= a^{2} (x^{2} + y^{2}) + b^{2} (x^{2} + y^{2})

= (a^{2} + b^{2}) (x^{2} + y^{2})
