Find the zeroes of the quadratic polynomial:

5x2 - 4x — 1

Answer :

Equating the expression with 0,


5x2 - 4x - 1 = 0


On factorising it further,


5x2 - 5x + x - 1 = 0


5x(x - 1) +1(x - 1)=0


(5x + 1) (x - 1) = 0


x = - or x = 1


The zeroes of 5x2 - 4x — 1 are - and 1.
