Given two matrices are equal .i.e, A = B.
We know that if two matrices are equal then the elements of each matrices are also equal.
∴a + 4 = 2a + 2
⇒ a – 2a = 2 – 4
⇒ – a = – 2
⇒ a = 2 …… (1)
And 3b = b2 + 2
⇒ b2 – 3b + 2 = 0
⇒ b2 – 2b – b + 2 = 0
⇒ b(b – 2) – 1(b – 2) = 0
⇒ (b – 2)(b – 1) = 0
⇒ b = 2 or 1 …… (2)
And – 6 = b2 – 10
⇒ b2 = – 10 + 6
⇒ b2 = – 4
⇒ b = ±2i(No real solution) …… (3)
∴ a = 2, b = 2 or 1
