Q. 34.3( 178 Votes )

# If the point (3, 4) lies on the graph of the equation 3y = ax + 7, find the value of a.

Answer :

**The point (3, 4) lies on the graph of the equation 3y = ax + 7**

Therefore,

Put x = 3 and y = 4 in the equation,

3y = ax + 7,

Hence,

3 x 4 = a x 3 + 7

12 = 3a + 7

3a = 12 – 7

3a = 5

**a = 5/3**
