If 45 is added to half a number, the result is triple the number. Find the number.
Let x be the number. Then, half of the number is
According to the question,
⇒ x + 90 = 6x
⇒ 90 = 6x – x
⇒ 90 = 5x
⇒ [divide both side by 5]
⇒ x = 18.
Hence, the number is 18.
