# The angles of a triangle are x, y and 40. The difference between the two angles x and y is 30. Find x and y.

Answer :

Given – :

x – y = 30

or, x = y + 30 ……(1)

x + y + 40 = 180 (since sum of angles of a triangle = 180) (Angle sum property)

x + y = 140 ……(2)

Put value of x from (1)

y + 30 + y = 140

2y = 140 – 30

y = 55

put y = 55 in (1)

x = 55 + 30

∴ x = 85
