Formula used: –
LCM = Least Common Multiple
Means it is the lowest term by which every element must be
divided completely;
x2y + xy2 = x × y × x + x × y × y
= x × y × (x + y)
x2 + xy = x × x + x × y
= x × (x + y)
⇒ first find the common factors in all terms
Common factor = (x + y) × x
⇒ then multiply the remaining factors of terms in common
factor to get the LCM
= (x + y) × x × (x)
= x3 + yx2
Conclusion: –
The LCM of given terms [x2y + xy2, x2 + xy] is x3 + yx2
