b2 – 4ac > 0 for real roots
When we compare the above quadratic equation with the generalized one we get,
ax2 + bx + c = 0
a = 1
b = -4
c = 4
⟹ (-4)2 – (4 × 1 × 4)
⟹ 16 - 16
⟹ 0
The answer is zero which implies that the quadratic equation has real and equal roots.
