# The cost of 2 kg of apples and 1kg of grapes on a day was found to be Rs 160. After a month, the cost of 4 kg of apples and 2 kg of grapes is Rs 300. Represent the situation algebraically and geometrically.

Let the cost of each kg of apples = Rs. X

Let the cost of each kg of grapes = Rs. Y

According to the question,

Cost of 2 kg of Apples = 2 x
Cost of 1 kg of grapes = y   Putting y = 20, 40 and 60 we get,

x = (160 - 20)/2 = 70

x = (160 - 40))/2 = 60

x = (160 - 60)/2 = 50 Algebraic Representation:
2 x + y = 160
Graphical Representation: Now taking another case
Cost of 4 kg of apples and 2 kg of grapes is Rs. 300……………………………(Given)

So, Dividing the equation by 2 , we get,  Putting x = 70, 75 and 80 we get,

y = 150 – 2×70 = 10

y = 150 – 2(75) = 0

y = 150 – 2(80) = 150 – 160 = -10 Algebraic representation :

4 x + 2 y = 300
