# If <span lang="EN

Given, As the 2 matrices are equal. So corresponding elements of both the matrix must also hold the equality.

xy = 8 ; w = 4 ; z + 6 = 0 and x + y = 6

Hence, we get:

w = 4

z = -6

x + y = 6

y = 6 – x

x(6-x) = 8

x2 – 6x + 8 = 0

x2 – 4x – 2x + 8 = 0

x(x – 4) – 2(x – 4) = 0

(x – 2)(x – 4) = 0

x = 2 or x = 4

When x = 2 ; y = 4

And when x = 4 ; y = 2

Thus,

x = 2 or 4 ; y = 4 or 2 ; z = -6 and w = 4 …ans
