Let, f(x) = x3 - ax2 + 2x - a


As per the question,

x - a = 0

x = a

Using Remainder theorem,

We know that when f(x)is divided by (x – a), the remainder so obtained will be f(a).


f(a) = a3 – a(a)2 + 2(a) – a

= a3 – a3 + 2a – a

= 2a - a

= a


The required remainder is a.
