# When I triple a certain number and add 2, I get the same answer as I do when I subtract the number from 50. Find the number.

Answer :

Let the number be x.

Triple the number = 3x.

The number subtracted from 50 = 50 – x.

According to the given condition,

3x + 2 = 50 – x

⇒ 3x + x = 50 – 2 (Transposing x to LHS and 2 to RHS)

4x = 48

⇒ x = (Transposing 4 to RHS)

x = 12

∴ The required number is 12.
