When a coin is tossed two times the possible outcomes are HHH, HHT, HTH, THH, HTT, TTH, THT and TTT.

Therefore,

The sample space is {HHH, HHT, HTH, THH, HTT, TTH, THT, TTT} = 8

Hence, the number of possible outcomes is 8.
