# Suppose 3 bulbs are selected at random from a lot. Each bulb is tested and classified as defective (D) or non – defective(N). Write the sample space of this experiment.

Answer :

Let D denote the event the bulb is defective, N denote the event the bulb is non-defective

Total Number of sample space=(2×2×2)=8

We define the possible outcomes by an ordered set (x, y, z)

where

x denotes the event first bulb is selected

y denotes the event second bulb is selected

z denotes the event third bulb is selected

Sample space S={(D,D,D), (D,D,N), (D,N,D), (N,D,D), (D,N,N), (N,D,N), (N,N,D), (N,N,N)}
