Draw a square with the side a + b i.e.,2 + 4
L.H.S of the whole square = (2 + 4)2 = (6)2 = 36
R.H.S = Area of the square with 2 units + Area of the square with 4 units +
Area of the 2,4 units + Area of the square with 4 ,2 units = 22 + 42 + 2×4 + 2×4 = 4 + 16 + 8 + 8 = 36
L.H.S = R.H.S
Hence,the identity is verified.
