A carpet is 30 m 75 cm long and 80 cm wide. Find its cost at Rs. 150 per square meter.
Answer :
Given:
Length of the carpet = 30 m 75 cm
We have 100 cm = 1 m ⇒ 75 cm = 0.75 m
⇒ Length of carpet = (30 + 0.75) m = 30.75 m
Width of the carpet = 80 cm = 0.80 m
We know, area of rectangle = length × breadth
⇒ Area of carpet = 30.75 × 0.80 m2
∴ Area of carpet = 24.6 m2
It is given that the cost of 1 m2 carpet is Rs. 150.
⇒ Cost of carpet = Rs. 150 × 24.6
∴ Cost of carpet = Rs. 3690
Thus, the cost of the carpet is Rs. 3690.
