Q. 2 B

Frame and solve the equations for the following statements:

Sum of three consecutive numbers is 90. Find the numbers.

Answer :

Let the numbers be x, x+1 and x+2

Then according to the question,

x + (x + 1) + (x + 2) = 90

x + x + 1 + x + 2 = 90

3x + 3 = 90

3x = 90 – 3

3x = 87

x = 29

x + 1 = 29 + 1 = 30

x + 2 = 29 + 2 = 31

Hence, the numbers are 29, 30 and 31.
