Q. 3 F5.0( 1 Vote )

Using the identity (x + a)(x + b) = x2 + (a + b)x + ab, find out the following products:

(xy – 3) (xy – 2)

Answer :

Given (xy – 3) (xy – 2)

Using (x + a)(x + b) = x2 + (a + b)x + ab

(xy – 3) (xy – 2)= (xy)2 + ( – 3 – 2)xy + ( – 3)×( – 2)

(xy – 3) (xy – 2)= x2y2 – 5xy + 6
