For any integer a, what is (-1) × a equal to?

Answer :

If we look the question then there will be three possible cases for this question:

Case 1: When a is any positive integer

So,

(-1) × a = - a

Case 2: When a is any negative integer

So,

(-1) × (-a) = a

Also,

Case 3: When a is 0

So,

(-1) × 0 = 0

Therefore,

From the above results, the possible answers are a, 0 and – a
