# A man sold two varieties of his dog for Rs. 3,605 each. On one he made a gain of 15% and on the other a loss of 9%. Find his overall gain or loss.

[Hint: Find C.P. of each]

Answer :

Let x, y be the two varieties of dogs.

Selling price of both the varieties (S.P_{x} , S.P_{y}) is 3605

S.P_{x} , S.P_{y} means selling price of varieties X, Y respectively

C.P_{x} , C.P_{y} means Cost price of varieties X, Y respectively

on selling variety X dog he gets 15% profit which means the selling price is 115% of C.P_{x}

3605 = 115% C.P_{x}

3605 = C.P_{x}

C.P_{x} = = 3134.78

on selling variety Y dog he gets 9% loss which means the selling price is 91% of C.P_{y}

3605 = 91% C.P_{y}

3605 = C.P_{y}

C.P_{y} = = 3,961.53

C.P = C.P_{x} + C.P_{y}

= 3134.78 + 3,961.53 = 7096 (approx.)

S. P = S.P_{x} + S.P_{y}

= 3605 + 3605 = 7,210

Profit = S.P - C.P

= 7,210 – 7,096 = 114 (approx.)
