Q. 23

During a thunders

Answer :

(a) From this situation we can infer that Hari is quite compassionate towards others and respects human life. He is also very alert and quick-witted and its due to these values that the life of boys could be saved.

(b)When a bird perches on the wire, its entire body is at the same potential as the wire. As there’s no potential difference, no current flows and thus the bird remains harmless. But when we touch the ground, we create a potential difference and thus allow current to flow from high potential to low potential giving rise to a fatal shock.

(c)Due to the resistance of the transmitting wires, there is a loss of power during transmission. To overcome this power loss, the transmitting potential is set at a higher magnitude so as to compensate the loss and supply adequate voltages.
