(i) What are the values (at least two) displayed by Mr. Deepak?

(ii) Why is it not advisable to take sleeping pills without consulting doctor?

(iii) What are tranquilizers? Give two examples.

Answer :

(i) The first value displayed by Mr. Deepak is concern for his friend Mr. Angad. The second value displayed by Mr. Deepak is awareness as he was able to suggest appropriate measure to Mr. Angad to change his lifestyle.

(ii) It is advised not to take sleeping pills without consulting a doctor because these pills have side effects and the dosage varies for different situations. There can be problems with withdrawal when the drugs are stopped. This can include agitation, anxiety, and insomnia that's worse than when the drug was started.

(iii) Tranquilizers are neurologically active drugs. They inhibit the message transfer mechanism from nerve to receptor and induce a feeling of well-being. They are used to treat stress, anxiety and other mental diseases. Their examples are chlordiazepoxide, iproniazid and equanil.
