Answer :
Many man–made pollutants like effluents from industries, homes enter into the water bodies and accelerate the aging process of the lake. This phenomenon is known Cultural or Accelerated Eutrophication.
The primary contaminants are in sewage and industrial wastes are nitrates and phosphates which act as plant nutrients. These promote algal bloom which in turn depletes the oxygen level.
The algal bloom causes unpleasant odors in the water bodies and worsening the quality of water in it leading to fish molarity.
The algal blooms are extremely toxic to human beings and animals.
Algal bloom also diminishes the penetration of light in the water bodies, as they form thick mat like structure on the surface of the water bodies, this result in decrease in productivity of plants living in deeper water.
When the algae die and decompose they consume more oxygen leading to decrease in oxygen level in the water bodies.
Due to less oxygen and pollutants the aquatic life are poisoned and decomposed resulting in choking of water bodies to death.
